A restaurant designed as a moored yacht
When Slavik is commissioned to decorate Marius & Janette, he doesn’t merely adorn a chic address in the 8th arrondissement. He decides to give it a strong, immersive identity: that of a restaurant moored at the dock, like a luxury yacht stranded in the heart of Paris.
Slavik transforms the place into a motionless ship, an invitation to travel. Here again, his method is the same: a poetic transposition. Through Marius & Janette, he brings to life a refined fantasy of escape.
You are elsewhere, on a wooden deck, surrounded by soft light and marine details.
Slavik used to say that he had transformed Marius and Janette into “Hemingway’s boat shack.” Rather than a shack, it is a yacht interior entirely in varnished mahogany, with porthole windows replaced by mirrors. On the walls, all the instruments for big-game fishing: series of hooks and baits, sumptuous fishing rods fixed to the ceiling and walls.
The luminous portholes have been replaced by wall lights.
