The brasserie reimagined as a grand stage
This almost untouched place is enchanting. Slavik gave free rein to his imagination there, but also to his engineering skills, because the transformation of this 400 sq m station brasserie required, according to him, finding “the exact and right solution for arranging shoeboxes in a triangle.”
Ideally located opposite the Gare de Lyon, L’Européen embodies this crossroads between departures and arrivals, waiting and transit. This is why Slavik installed showers, luggage lockers, and telephone booths for clients transiting through Gare de Lyon.
Organized on a tiered plan, the brasserie features mezzanines and private lounges in the basement.
The most impressive element is the monumental curved counter in bluish anodized stainless steel, topped with a surreal clock.
Slavik indicated this color by pulling a blue stainless steel shoehorn from his bag.
Various and numerous light fixtures are reflected in the mirrors adorned with curved wood paneling and in the vanilla lacquer ceilings, creating a luxurious atmosphere.
The atmosphere is lively, vibrant — yet hushed. In this large space, Slavik succeeds in creating islands of intimacy
With L’Européen, Slavik restores the Parisian brasserie to its status as a spectacle venue.
